THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA: Our Fire
Updated: Sep 6, 2019
It's time to head to the Solar Plexus Chakra this week! If you missed last week's post, I encourage you to check it out! We learned how important the first and second Chakras are for creating our third Chakra energy. When we combine Matter and Movement, of our first and second Chakras, we end up with FIRE, our THIRD CHAKRA.
Let's dive in deeper....
The Solar Plexus Chakra is our third Chakra. If you notice down below in The 7 Chakras of the Human Body, you will see our Solar Plexus Chakra at the center of the belly . The actual place of our third Chakra is about 2 inches above the belly button. The color is YELLOW. The Affirmation is I DO.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is called the MANIPURA CHAKRA, or Lustrous Gem, in Sanskrit. How beautiful does that sound?? Our Fire Chakra is the Lustrous Gem of our body.
With our Solar Plexus Chakra being our Fire Chakra...or our Lustrous Gem, let's think about the meaning of this Chakra. In it's name, it literally is named "Solar" or SUN. Our sun is bright, yellow, energetic powerful and strong. Those are all characteristics of our third Chakra! Our Solar Plexus Chakra is our space of energy, strength, determination, will, and power. All of these properties are for the purpose of DOING. The affirmation above for the third Chakra is "I DO." So, we can say we need our Solar Plexus Chakra because it is the space of our personal power, in order to do all that it is we need to do. We can always have an intention of doing something, but if we don't have the energy....or our third Chakra space balanced....then the intention doesn't happen.
Our Solar Plexus Chakra is our place of self-esteem as well. If we think about it, when we are nervous or worried, where do we often feel this sensation? Maybe butterflies in the stomach? Maybe our stomach feels queasy? We might notice when something just "doesn't feel right," we feel it in our gut. This is our third Chakra space talking to us. During these times, it is so important to listen to our bodies and what they are telling us! I believe part of our intuition is in our Solar Plexus Chakra...we get those "GUT FEELINGS." Especially those of us reading this week's blog who are women! Always trust that gut intuition, or our Solar Plexus Chakra.
In regards to the third Chakra, I think most of us have felt at times that we don't have enough energy to do something. When our third Chakra is not balanced we can feel fatigued, powerless, shy, sluggish. We also could feel the opposite and always be on the GO GO Go... constantly moving, and can't sit still! Either way, our Solar Plexus Chakras might be telling us that we need a little work to be done to help balance this space!
SO, how do we avoid this? What can we do to keep the Solar Plexus Chakra balanced?
●Movement (AGAIN!), specifically if you are feeling more fatigued or sluggish. Exercise like Dance, Aerobics, Zumba, Kickboxing, and Running are all great for this! If you are already constantly moving and our fire is getting burned out, you would want to slow down and not add on vigorous exercise. Actually, a Slow Flow Yoga class or a Restorative Yoga class would be much better!
●Intentions = Setting intentions through the day to help you stay on track and accountable for what you need to get done.
●Certain Yoga postures that stoke our internal FIRE, such as our Warrior Poses, twists, and core work, like Boat Pose (Navasana) and Plank pose. See below!
As we travel up the Chakra System in the body, we start to find that the higher we go in the Chakras, the more in tune we need to become with ourselves to help stay balanced. This is very important because if we are unbalanced in one of the upper chakras, it can throw off the Chakras above AND below the one in question. Up next week is our fourth Chakra space, our HEART CHAKRA. Our Heart Chakra's element is Air. What does our Fire Chakra need to keep the fire alive?? AIR!!! We can have the energy and the will, but if we don't have the heart involved, the fire starts to slow burn out. We'll dive in deeper next week!
